Education and Advocacy to Protect the Senior Placement Industry

NPRA’s Initiatives promote the senior placement industry so that senior adults and their families may have peace of mind when seeking senior housing and care options. Through its Initiatives, NPRA is promoting the senior placement industry and as a result empowering the public with access to trusted resources and advocates. NPRA’s Initiatives are focused on establishing fair business practices, creating a strong foundation for the senior placement industry and creating change and accountability both nationally and locally so that families may be represented and advised with professional care and a level of excellence that should be expected.

Initiatives of the National Placement & Referral Alliance

AN AGENT OF CHOICE IS EVERY FAMILY’S RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE

Every family deserves to be represented by a senior placement agent of their choice – one who will offer professional and personalized service, and present viable quality housing options for their unique situation.

Transitioning a loved one to assisted living can be emotional, stressful, time consuming and unfortunately a confusing process. Often families searching for senior housing options are working within tight time constraints and under immense stress to make the “right” decision.

NPRA members represent and assist families with their right to be advised and guided by an agent they feel most comfortable with so that they may understand their options and can make informed decisions that are right for them.

ESTABLISHING FAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE

NPRA Agents abide by a Code of Ethics and adhere to industry best practices to further establish professionalism within the senior placement industry and promote a fair marketplace.

As with other infant industries, there are currently no mandatory standard practices in place to become a senior placement agent, which can sometimes lead to predatory practices. NPRA is working to establish fair business practices to avoid:

  • Questionable tactics that attempt to manipulate or apply pressure to consumers, competitors and senior care providers
  • Lack of knowledge about the senior placement industry that can lead to overlooking fair business practices
  • Negotiations of exclusive lead contracts that prevent family choice

A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR A VIABLE INDUSTRY

NPRA established Best Practices to serve the best interests of the public and create a strong foundation for the infant senior placement industry. They were designed and written in collaboration with industry experts to include NPRA’s Board of Directors and NPRA local chapter presidents from across the nation.

Unified standards make the senior placement industry stronger by professionalizing it and offering the public a standard level of care that is elevated and grounded in expertise and knowledge.

NPRA’s Best Practices provide the industry standards for NPRA’s agents, affiliate members and sponsors.

CPRS-CERTIFICATION, A MARK OF EXCELLENCE

The Certified Placement & Referral Specialist (CPRS) designation is NPRA’s accredited national certification. Becoming CPRS-certified validates a senior placement agent’s expertise and demonstrates a higher level of trust. It exemplifies elevated professionalism and excellence through adherence of the NPRA Code of Ethics and Best Practices.

Senior placement agents who become CPRS-certified standout from their peers and differentiate their business. CPRS-certified agents are experts in the senior placement industry and can be trusted to provide seniors and their families with the information they need to make informed decisions.

NPRA members benefit from a discounted rate for the national certification program and testing.

AN ALLIANCE OF INDUSTRY SPECIALIST DRIVING CHANGE LOCALLY

NPRA builds its national membership through local chapters and alliances that span across the United States. NPRA local chapters are made up of experts who help protect and promote the senior placement industry in local communities. This alliance of industry specialists is driving change locally and making a difference by helping seniors and their families maneuver the complex world of senior housing and care options within their own communities.
